The most monitored transfer rumour of the summer has resulted in Petr Cech pulling the curtain on his Chelsea career to sign with the Gunners and the new Arsenal goalkeeper answered to various questions in his first interview after the transfer.

Arsene Wenger made the most out of the turmoil that had surrounded the Czech Republic international by offering £11million to the Blues, who have opted to vote against the decision of Jose Mourinho to allow the veteran to move to arch-nemeses.

The 33-year-old does not have to wait till the Premier League kicks off to feature against his former side as the London giants would be facing off against each other in the Community Shield fixture in the first week of August.

While he was quizzed about his mentality regarding his professional Arsenal debut being played against the club, where he is revered as a legend, he stated that it would be strange for him to be fighting for Chelsea to lose the pre-season fixture.

Having spent more than a decade under the Stamford Bridge roof, he has made quite a lot of friends, whom he preferred to be left unnamed. However, the Arsenal goalkeeper (yeah, it has finally happened) promised to put his friendship aside to ensure the Emirates Stadium outfit retained their Community Shield trophy.

“I think the script couldn’t have been written in a better way for the fans because this will be one of the days [that is] very exciting and very strange at the same time. I have to say, having been with Chelsea for eleven years and having so much success and great memories, I guess it will be a very strange feeling to be on the other side,” said the veteran custodian.

Once you’re on the pitch, you play for your team and you want to win. During the year you can play against friends, you can play against big friends and close friends, but once you are on the pitch, this friendship goes away and you just focus on winning the game.”

Contrary to the fate that he had to endure last season, Petr Cech would not have much of trouble getting playing minutes as his understudy, Wojciech Szczesny does not seem to be imposing a threatening figure.
