With back-to-back signings of world-class players, Arsene Wenger is now in a position to offload players, who don’t qualify to feature for the Gunners on a regular basis.

Having already shown the exit door to the likes of Semi Ajayi and Ryo Miyaichi, the French manager is now looking to offload the second set to mediocre players, including Lukas Podolski and Mathieu Flamini.

The German international is all set to become the first source of incoming transfer fee for Arsenal after all but confirming his £2.1million summer switch to Galatasaray, where he could be offered more playing minutes.

The former Bayern Munich striker was tipped in to replace Robin van Persie, but his industry was always subjected to questions before he made his loan move to Inter, where he failed miserably scoring just once throughout his loan spell. He now finds himself surplus to requirements at Emirates Stadium.

As a means to offer more momentum to the Galatasaray links, he appeared on their in-house channel as he confirmed the meetings besides confessing his intent to move to Turkey this summer. The 30-year-old, like he always does, attempted to win away the hearts when he stated that they were great.

“Yes, there have been meetings with Galatasaray. I hope the transfer happens. I’d love to play at Galatasaray. The fans are great. They showed a great interest in me on social media.”

His absence will hardly be felt given the rise in prominence of Alexis Sanchez since his multi-million move from Barcelona last summer.

Billed to rediscover his greatness in Turkish Super Lig, Lukas Podolski can be expected to officially move this week.
