Long-term target Pedro Rodriguez has recently told his boss Luis Enrique that he would rather fight for his spot than push for a move away from his boyhood club this summer, thereby denting our chances of landing him.

The Spanish international apparently has a release clause of £135million, but it is believed that such an extravagant clause was embedded onto his Barcelona contract only to put the club in a commanding position over his transfer fee.

While the intentions of the Spanish club seems apparent, the winger still wants to make a name for himself amongst the Camp Nou crowd as he aims at nudging either Neymar da Silva or Luis Suarez out of the starting eleven.

With the departure of Lukas Podolski, rumours linking the 27-year-old with the Gunners made sense as he is undeniably one of the most gifted left wingers of his generation, but his determination to make things work in Spain means Arsene Wenger may not have his hands on him for one more summer.

Arsenal, however, are in no haste to bring down a left winger as they already have the best in the business in Alexis Sanchez. In addition, Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil and Serge Gnabry can be called upon to decorate the left flank if the game demands the Chilean to act as the centre-forward.
