According to fresh reports emanating from the British media, Arsenal are all but set to launch a £8.5million bid, which they believe would be enough for Juventus to let Fernando Llorente jump ships this summer.
A Juventus spokesperson was recently quoted by the Sun saying that the Gunners were interested in him despite a bid not coming in and his claim goes in accordance with the claims of respected journalist Kike Marin.
“It’s Arsenal who’ve been in contact — not United,” a source told the paper.
“They have made an inquiry but there is no bid yet. But it is clear they are interested and it is also clear that Juventus are ready to listen.”
The former Athletic Bilbao hitman has lately been much less prolific as he netted only seven goals last season and the obscurity concerning why Arsene Wenger would want to land a striker, who is already past his prime, is high.
On the other hand, the Italian club must be tickled pink with the Arsenal interest as they could then replace him with an upgrade given the fact that he failed to offer competition of any sort to compatriot Alvaro Morata last campaign.
Olivier Giroud, however, will be delighted to retain the undisputed center forward status at the Emirates Stadium for yet another season as the Spaniard would only become one of Chuba Akpom and Theo Walcott, who are finding it hard to disposition him.
The north London outfit seem to have already lost out on their prime targets in Karim Benzema and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. As things stand, only compromise signings are feasible despite the £200million warchest that Lord Harris claimed to have handed the Arsenal manager.
