Arsene Wenger may be forced to plot a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should they fail in their attempt to bring down prime target Karim Benzema this summer, according to highly cited journalist Kike Marin.

After losing out on Jackson Martinez and a dozen other strikers earlier this summer, the Gunners turned their attention to the Borussia Dortmund marksman, but their dreams of landing him shattered when he extended his contract with the German club.

However, with the availability of world-class strikers now on the wane, the Emirates Stadium outfit could rekindle their interest in him.

The Gabonese international can arguably be deemed to be an upgrade to the current undisputed centre-forward, Olivier Giroud and could go on to form an intimidating partnership that could traumatize any defense with other  speedsters in the shape of Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was directly involved in 36 goals last season and can be expected to make the London side title contenders if the rumours come to fruition.

Transfermarkt value him at £25million, which is not too hefty a fee that could not afford, but given the fact that he is tied to the Westfalenstadion outfit until 2020, they may be forced to shell out a few more millions.
