The transfer window has slammed shut in England and Arsenal fans are reflecting on an unsuccessful transfer window once again.
After signing Cech early in the summer this was supposed to be the window where Wenger got the players he needed and lift Arsenal to premier league glory once again. However, Wenger had other ideas and failed to sign anybody else. There were rumours right until the last minute hoping Arsenal could get a Benzema or Cavani over the line but that was not possible.
This is the biggest disappointment as it is clear to see Arsenal needed a striker after failing to score at home so far and only scoring one goal themselves. Additionally, another position that Wenger neglected to address was that of defensive midfield. Although, Coquelin has done an excellent job Arsenal are one injury away from a crisis in that vital position. Arsenal will now have to rely on the ageing Arteta and Flamini if Coquelin was to get injured.
However, there was one positive in the transfer window and that was the signing of Petr Cech. Arsenal finally have a world class goalkeeper even if he didn’tt get off to the best of starts against West Ham. Cech proved his quality against Liverpool and he must not be forgotten in this shambles of a transfer window.
So what now?
The transfer window is shut which means all fans need to get behind the team and push them on. Let’s not forget this side is hugely talented and can beat anyone on their day. Arsenal have quality players with the likes of Ӧzil and Sanchez who can propel this Arsenal side forward. Furthermore, Arsenal has the returning Welbeck who can hopefully add some extra goals to this Arsenal side alongside a fully fit Walcott.
The vital element to this part of the season is that Wenger gets his tactics right and uses the players correctly which are at his disposal. Additionally, Joel Campbell has remained an Arsenal player which means he may get a chance to play upfront as well.
Overall, we could have had a more productive transfer window but it is not all doom and gloom. We may have had a relatively poor start but importantly we have only lost one game just like many of the challengers around us apart from Manchester City.
