Arsenal strikers have been widely slammed for being unproductive in front of the goal, but manager Arsene Wenger has come for the rescue of his boys stating that the likes of Olivier Giroud can even notch up twenty goals this season.

The 64-year-old manager subtly launched an attack on fans stating that they expect strikers to be absolutely successful whilst they are unready to nurture them with trust and added that goals would be spread through the squad unlike the times when Robin van Persie donned the red and white shirt.

“We will have to spread the goals through the squad, the French manager said. “I think Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez can get around 20 goals without any problem.

“Sometimes you have to trust your players and play them. Then they get there. People always want the absolute certainty that they will be absolutely successful. It is not like that,”

The former Monaco manager has enjoyed successes converting nobodies into world-class players and cited his experiment with Nicolas Anelka to prove that his brave decisions hardly go wrong. Claiming that football is unpredictable, he revealed that he would want his midfielders to hit double figures this season.

“I played Nicolas Anelka and people asked me why I did not buy anybody and Thierry Henry the same. I answered that he might score, if I played him. Football is a bit like that. It is not a science that everybody masters and where you can absolutely predict how many goals everybody will get.

I would rather have Aaron Ramsey score 15, Mesut Ozil 15, Santi Cazorla 10. Otherwise, if you have only one player who scores, when he is injured, you don’t know who will score.”

Arsenal play host to struggling Stoke later today and Arsene Wenger would want Alexis Sanchez and the likes to rise to the occasion and seal the first home victory of the season, having collected only a single point at the Emirates Stadium hitherto.
