Arsenal have received many approaches for their much-maligned striker Olivier Giroud; however, they have scuppered the advances of the interested parties, according to Darren Lewis of the Mirror.

Many clubs were queuing up for the 29-year-old striker toward the end of the last season, and the Gunners seemed willing to listen to offers at that time. However, after a rather fruitful European Championship campaign with France, they have revised their stance, with the club announcing he is not for sale.

Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen his strikeforce, with Alexandre Lacazette, Alvaro Morata, Romelu Lukaku, and Islam Slimani all being lined up as potential targets. The Emirates Stadium faithful expected one of the above-mentioned highly rated strikers to displace Giroud from the starting line-up but, by the looks of things, he seems an integral part of Wenger’s plans.

Giroud, joint-second top scorer of Euro ’16, will likely spearhead Didier Deschamps’ side against surprise finalists in Portugal on Sunday night. With Danny Welbeck sidelined until January 2017 and Theo Walcott’s stocks plummeting, Wenger will expect him to carry his fine Euro ’16 form next season.

Arriving from Montpellier for a fee believed to be in the region of £13 million, Giroud has scored 82 goals and provided 34 assists in 187 competitive appearances for Arsenal. His current Arsenal contract runs until June 2018, and he can be expected to become an all-time great Arsenal in the future.
