Serge Gnabry has left Arsenal to join Bundesliga club Werder Bremen. This comes after intense speculation linking him to a move to Bayern Munich.
Gnabry joins Bremen for a fee believed to be around £5.1m. Arsenal were reluctant to let Gnabry leave but with only a year left on his contract Wenger has decided to sell. Gnabry has been in excellent form with the German Olympic team which had alerted all Bundesliga clubs.
Gnabry will be remembered for his goal against Swansea and his excellent performance against Spurs in the FA cup. There were high hopes for Gnabry with many believing he could break into the Arsenal side. He was sent on loan to West Brom last year but this didn’t work out and was limited to only a few minutes. His development was not help due to injury which forced him out for a year and Gnabry struggled when returning in January last year.
Many thought he may replace Campbell as a squad player this year but he has left meaning Arsenal may be short in wide position but the emergence of Alex Iwobi may have pushed Gnabry down the pecking order anyway.
Overall, it is disappointing to see Gnabry leave after the emergence of him in his first season.
However, I would like to wish him the best of luck in the future.
