Jack Wilshere has joined AFC Bournemouth on a season long loan. The interest was first reported last night after Wilshere and his representatives met the Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe yesterday in London.

The loan deal has come about after Wilshere had requested to leave on loan so that he could play every week and get games after being considered sixth choice at Arsenal. There was a reported interest from 22 clubs which came from all around Europe.

On deadline day there were four viable options which include Crystal Palace, AS Roma and AC Milan. It was believed that Roma had agreed a deal however, it was reported by David Ornstein of the BBC that Arsenal would not do a deal due to a disagreement in the summer over Manolas.

He tweeted “Roma/Arsenal deal for Wilshere not easy. #AFC angry at Roma conduct in Manolas talks this summer. Still hope for #CPFC & #AFCB #DeadlineDay”

News then broke around 6PM that Wilshere was going to Bournemouth for a medical where he has subsequently agreed to join which has yet to be confirmed but there is every expectation it will.  It is understood that Wilshere has agreed to join Bournemouth because of the style of football Howe plays which is similar to that of Arsenals.

According to various outlets Bournemouth will pay Wilshere’s wages in full and will pay a loan fee of £2 million.

Additionally, Benik Afobe has apparently played a key role in convincing Wilshere to join the South Coast club. Afobe and Wilshere have been friends since school and progressed through the Arsenal Academy. Afobe is also godfather to Wilshere’s children.

The future

Wilshere currently has two years left on his deal which means when he returns he will only have a year left which is a dangerous position especially if he has a good year. There are some rumours that Wilshere may sign a new deal when the loan goes through but at the moment this is mere speculation.

Arsenal have allowed Wilshere to leave on loan to get his full fitness back and get games under his belt which will hopefully happen. It is expected that Wilshere will then return to Arsenal to replace Santi Cazorla in the team who will be getting on in terms of age.

Overall, I would like to wish Jack Wilshere the best of luck for the season ahead. Hopefully he can have a good years’ worth of games and come back a better player. Personally I would like Wilshere to return to Arsenal, sign a new contract and lead Arsenal forward into the future.
