Speaking to the Guardian, agent Albert Botines has gone on to reveal that Hector Bellerin is close to putting pen to paper on a new deal with Arsenal.
Bellerin has been a revelation since establishing himself as a regular for the Arsenal first team back in the 2014/15 Premier League season.
Having been handed an opportunity to the unfortunate injury to Mathieu Debuchy, Bellerin went on to prove his worth very early on and the Spaniard was arguably the best right-back in the Premier League last year.
As a result of his wonderful performances, Bellerin earned a place in the Spanish national team squad for the 2016 European Championships and at just 21, many believe that the youngster will surely go on to become a world class full-back in the not so distant future.
While Bellerin’s rise to prominence has most certainly been pleasing for Arsenal, there was a cause for concern due to the fact that Barcelona had expressed their interest in securing the services of the young full-back this summer.
Barcelona have snapped up the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song from Arsenal over the years and many fans were fearful that the Catalan giants could also potentially lure Bellerin back to Spain.
Bellerin set for Arsenal stay
In an attempt to avoid losing Bellerin though, Arsenal placed an improved contract offer on the table for the defender to consider last month and the Gunners have now received very encouraging news.
Bellerin’s agent Albert Botines has been speaking to the Guardian regarding his client’s future and has gone on to reveal that the defender is on the verge of putting pen to paper on the new deal at the Emirates Stadium.
He said, “We are speaking and are now a lot closer than we were two weeks ago. In a normal situation he will sign. Héctor is very happy at Arsenal. This would be the fourth time he has signed a new contract at the club and it is clear he has made good progress.”
