According to reports from Italian outlet Sport Media Set, Serie A duo Napoli and AC Milan are both keen on securing the services of Arsenal attacker Olivier Giroud.

Giroud enjoyed a fine campaign on a personal level last season, scoring 24 goals in 53 appearances in all competitions and he then went on to play a starring role for the French national team during the European Championships.

However, Giroud was handed an extended break by manager Arsene Wenger this summer due to his extended participation with France and the striker has unfortunately struggled to win his place back in the side due to the wonderful form shown by Alexis Sanchez in an attacking position.

As a result of his lack of minutes on the pitch, Giroud has recently expressed his frustrations and there have also been reports that the striker is currently planning to hold crunch talks with Wenger to discuss his long term future.

Giroud a wanted man in Italy

Now to further cast a doubt to Giroud’s time at Arsenal, it has been revealed by Italian outlet Sport Media Set that the attacker is now being courted by Serie A duo Napoli and AC Milan.

The report state that Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is currently looking for a replacement for injured striker Arkadiusz Milik and has identified Giroud as the ideal target, while Milan boss Vincenzo Montella is also looking at the possibility of signing the Frenchman to provide competition to Carlos Bacca.

A departure likely?

Giroud’s level of unhappiness has perhaps been blown a bit out of proportion by the media but it is clear to see that the striker is no longer the first choice at Arsenal.

While Giroud still remains a crucial component of the Arsenal squad as a whole, if he is promised regular football by the two aforementioned clubs, there is a realistic possibility that a transfer could well take place.
