Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has warned that Alexis Sanchez could be in danger of missing out for three months if his injury is not handled properly.

Arsenal fans would surely have been left extremely worried following the news that star man Alexis Sanchez had suffered an injury while on duty with the Chilean national team.

Sanchez was said to have limped out of training after suffering a suspected hamstring problem last week and as a result, the attacker missed Chile’s 0-0 draw against Colombia in Barranquilla on Thursday night.

Despite the serious nature of the injury though, Chile have not allowed Sanchez to return to Arsenal and are hopeful of having the 27-year-old fit in time for the World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay on Tuesday.

It does look like Chile are looking to take a very big risk with Sanchez’s fitness despite the serious nature of his injury and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has certainly been left baffled by the national team’s handling of the situation.

Now Wenger has gone on to speak about his displeasure regarding Chile’s treatment of Sanchez and has gone on to warn that the attacker could potentially be ruled out for three months if his current problem is aggravated by making him play against Uruguay.

Wenger was quoted saying by BeIN sport (via the Guardian), “I got a text last night [to say] that he has a hamstring injury. The team from Chile has travelled without him and they kept him to try and get him fit to play Uruguay for the second game on Tuesday night.

“I believe that with a hamstring injury we have to get access for our medical staff to the MRI scan to see what grade it is, how bad it is and make absolutely sure they don’t make any suicidal decision that could harm his future for two or three months.

“That is absolutely important. It’s a grey area between the national team and the club team and of course they look at their own results which I can understand but we have to preserve the health of Alexis Sánchez. He always wants to play and that’s where it is a more sensitive case because he’s always ready to play even when injured.”

The club versus country dispute regarding players is certainly a never ending debate but on this occasion, the Chilean national team should realize that the risk involved regarding Sanchez is simply too big to take and that the attacker should surely be allowed to go through his natural recovery process.
