According to reports from talkSPORT, Arsenal are currently on high alert regarding a potential move for long time target Julian Draxler as the attacker is made available for transfer.
Arsenal have been widely linked with a move for Julian Draxler on numerous occasions and it did seem like the Gunners would finally be able to secure the services of the German international this summer.
Following the conclusion of the 2016 European Championships, Draxler had publicly gone on to state that he wanted to leave Wolfsburg for a bigger club.
The 23-year-old had said, “The situation with me is that I made it clear to (coach) Dieter Hecking after we were knocked out of Euro 2016 in the semi-final that I would like to leave Wolfsburg.
“The coach has known about this for three weeks. It's very surprising that they have been talking about me to the media for weeks. I would have expected things to be different, for example for one of them to come to me and ask me how things are with me.”
Despite the admission though, Draxler was not allowed to leave by Wolfsburg and Arsenal evidently had to shelve their plans of signing the young attacker.
However in a potential boost to Arsenal’s chances of signing Draxler during the upcoming January transfer window, Wolfsburg chief Klaus Allofs has gone on to admit that he could now be ready to offload the former Schalke star if a good offer comes along.
Allofs was quoted saying for Sport1 on Sunday, "We'd evaluate it differently now and maybe give our approval the next time. The story did not help him, and it did not help VfL."
Following Allofs’ comments, talkSPORT have gone on to claim that Arsenal have put on high alert and there is a possibility that the Gunners could make their move this winter.
