As reported by talkSPORT, Arsenal are planning to send out Lucas Perez on loan during the upcoming January transfer window.
Arsenal were linked with a host of high profile strikers during the summer and after much speculation, the Gunners ended up signing Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna for a fee believed to be in the region of around £17.1 million.
Perez had enjoyed a decent season with Deportivo prior to his move to Arsenal and it was expected that the Spaniard could prove to be a very good addition to the star studded Gunners’ attacking lineup.
However, injury problems as well as fierce competition for places has limited Perez to only 6 appearances for Arsenal so far and the striker is currently in Spain as part of his rehabilitation process on the ankle injury he had suffered during the League Cup encounter against Reading last month.
Perez is expected to be out at least till December due to the injury problem but it does not look like the striker will be afforded a chance to compete for first team football even when he makes a full recovery as talkSPORT have reported that the Gunners are planning to send the Spaniard out on loan this winter.
The report does not disclose where Perez might potentially end up at but it is claimed that Arsenal are open to listening to offers for the 28-year-old.
Perez had recently admitted that he expected to be a starter for Arsenal and if the reports from talkSPORT are true, the former PAOK star could well be tempted by a move away in his quest for regular first team football.
He had said, "When I first arrived here I expected to have more of a starring role. [But] the teammates that are playing in my position are doing a great job. I had hoped to have more playing time, but what I have to do now is make the most of the opportunities I get."
Alexis Sanchez has been doing a fantastic job in leading the line for Arsenal at the moment and with Olivier Giroud also struggling for minutes on the pitch, Perez could well be served well by leaving the Emirates Stadium this January.
