Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has revealed that Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard are the two players he would have liked the opportunity to play alongside.

Henry clearly enjoyed a stellar career, winning every trophy imaginable with Arsenal, Barcelona and the French national team and while the attacker was a type of player who could win matches single handedly, it has to be said that he also had some wonderfully talented teammates surrounding him.

Lionel Messi, Patrick Vieira, Robert Pires, Zinedine Zidane and Xavi Hernandez are just some of the great players who Henry lined up alongside during his playing days and few can boast of such a stellar list of teammates.

Now, Henry has gone on to speak regarding players from rival teams he would have loved to play alongside as well and has named Manchester United legend Paul Scholes and Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard as his first two choices.

In reaction to Gerrard announcing his retirement from football, Henry was quoted saying by the Daily Mirror, "I will say alongside [Paul] Scholes, he is the player that I would have liked to have played with.

“He's one of those guys, the one who they say who could do anything on the pitch and do it well, Stevie G was him. A header, a free-kick, an assist or a tackle, everything was done well. At times, he was underrated, he was just an amazing, amazing player."

Scholes and Gerrard are arguably the two greatest midfielders the Premier League has ever seen and Henry would surely have caused even more havoc on defences around England if he had played alongside the two former England internationals.
