Jamie Redknapp believes that Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has what it takes to succeed Arsene Wenger at Arsenal in the foreseeable future.

Arsene Wenger is currently in the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and the general consensus at the moment is that the veteran French manager will be ending his two decade long association with the Gunners at the end of the current campaign.

While Arsenal may have struggled to win trophies on a consistent basis over the last few years under Wenger, there is no doubting the fact that replacing the 67-year-old will prove to be a herculean task for the Gunners and whoever does replace him, will certainly have huge shoes to fill.

A number of candidates have already been mentioned in the media as potential successors to Wenger and recently, reports linking Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe with a move to the Emirates Stadium has been especially gathering steam.

Howe has managed to establish himself as one of the most promising young managers in England over the past few years and the job he has conducted at the Vitality Stadium has been nothing short of sensational.

Given his side’s attractive style of play allied by the ability to get the desired results, many feel that Howe could potentially prove to be an ideal successor for Wenger at Arsenal and now ex-Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp has also gone on to back the 38-year-old with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Howe the next Arsenal manager?

Previewing Arsenal’s clash against Bournemouth this weekend, Redknapp wrote in his column for Sky Sports, “It will be interesting to see Eddie Howe in the away dugout. Eddie's career has just taken off. He is the best young manager in the country without a doubt. I think Bournemouth is the right place for him at the moment, but I can definitely see him at a club like Arsenal in the future.

“One questions is whether he could handle working with big-name players, but I don't see that being a problem. He was able to attract Wilshere to the club, and if he can get Bournemouth playing good football and improving all the time, then you can imagine what he could do for Arsenal.

“I'm really looking forward to this one. Arsenal have the extra quality and I think they will win, but Bournemouth pose a real threat and I think it will be a narrow game. It's a good test for Wenger's players. They will be going for three points to build on their draw at Old Trafford and keep up their title challenge.”

Howe is undoubtedly an extremely talented manager who has already managed to prove himself and although the prospective move for the Bournemouth boss could be a risky one, many Gunners’ fans would surely be open to the idea of the young Englishman arriving to North London to replace Wenger.
