Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has gone on to hail teammate Alexis Sanchez just days after Alan Shearer’s claims that the Chilean international is not ‘world-class’.

Sanchez has been in electric form ever since joining Arsenal from Barcelona during the summer of 2014 and the Chilean superstar has been sensational during the current campaign as well, already scoring an impressive 11 goals in just 14 Premier League appearances.

Recently, Sanchez put a hapless West Ham United side to the sword by scoring a stunning hat-trick in a 5-1 victory for Arsenal but despite his wonderful performance during the encounter, ex-Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer refused to acknowledge the 27-year-old as a ‘world class’ player.

As quoted by the Daily Mirror, Shearer said, "What I would say is, Arsenal are a much better team this year because of him. And, I would also ask Arsene Wenger, if he is world class, why has he taken two years to play him centre forward?"

Shearer’s claims have been rubbished by many as Sanchez is clearly one of the best players in world football at the moment and now teammate Nacho Monreal has gone on to lavish the ex-Barcelona attacker with high praise.

Monreal claimed that Sanchez is a ‘complete player’ and explained that his desire for constant improvement makes him such a great footballer.

Monreal insists Sanchez is world class

The Spaniard told Arsenal’s official website, “He’s such a complete player. He’s very good in the air despite the fact he’s not the tallest. He has a great shot on him, his positioning is very good. He chips in with the goals and really, he has everything.

“What I would say is that it’s his ambition that makes him such a great player. He just wants more at all times and for example, if he gets subbed off when we are winning 3-0, he’s not happy because he wants more, he wants to play more and he wants to keep improving.

“That’s good for him, because he keeps pushing himself and it’s good for the team because it obviously gives us that driving force."

Shearer has every right to voice his opinion but it has to be said that his views on Sanchez are a bit puzzling as there are very few players in the world that possess the quality which the Arsenal superstar does.
