Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has stated his belief that Arsenal stand a very good chance of claiming the Premier League title this season.

Arsenal head into every Premier League season with a sense of optimism that they will win the Premier League title but due to the Gunners’ inability to do so over the past decade as well as the high level of competition in the English top flight this season, the North London giants would have approached the current campaign with hope rather than expectations.

As it has turned out though, Arsenal have enjoyed a stunning campaign so far following a shock opening day defeat at the hands of Liverpool and the Gunners are most certainly genuine contenders to claim the Premier League crown this term.

Arsenal have been scintillating at times this season and as a huge sense of encouragement, Arsene Wenger’s side have been able to grind out the required results even when not playing particularly well – as evidenced by their hard fought 3-1 victory over Stoke City during the weekend.

Many have understandably been left impressed with Arsenal’s performances this season and now former Liverpool star Emile Heskey has also gone on to express his admiration for Gunners.

Heskey explained that Arsenal look solid both offensively as well as at the back and added that they are ‘well equipped’ to end their title drought this time around.

Heskey tips Arsenal for the title

He told Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday (quoted by Goal), "I think they're fully equipped to actually win it this year and really push to the end.

"They've got some very, very exciting players. When you give them space, they have so many different runners from different positions that you can pick out any one of them and they've got the players to pick them out.

"As long as they're solid defensively, which they're showing they're getting better at, I think they've got a good chance."
