Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, manager Arsene Wenger has brushed aside questions regarding his long term future at the Emirates Stadium.
Few can argue with the fact that Arsene Wenger has conducted a fantastic job at Arsenal since his arrival to the club back in 1996 and in his twenty year long stay in North London, the Frenchman has had a huge hand in turning the Gunners into the European superpowers they are today.
Wenger is currently in the final year of his deal at Arsenal though and it is now widely believed that the 67-year-old will finally be stepping down from his role as manager of the club at the end of the current campaign.
To further fuel the speculation, a number of names such as Diego Simeone, Roger Schmidt, Eddie Howe and Ralph Hasenhüttl have all been linked with the managerial post at the Emirates Stadium as replacements for Wenger over the past few weeks.
However with Arsenal doing so well at the moment, there have been suggestions that Wenger could well extend his stay beyond the end of the current campaign and reporters in England are most certainly keen on finding out what the future holds for the legendary manager.
Wenger remains coy regarding his future
The former AS Monaco boss was once again asked about his future at Arsenal recently but characteristically, he refused to give too much away by stating that he is currently only focusing on the present.
Wenger said, “My head and my heart tells me not to talk about that! We are all focused on targets that are of course this season. We don’t have time or energy to think about the rest. I’ve told you many times that I want to do as well as I can for this club for as long as I’m here.”
While fans are divided as to whether Wenger should stay put, the Gunners have been doing very well at the moment and the Frenchman could well be making his decision on the basis of how his side performs over the next few months.
