According to French radio station RMC (via the Metro), Mesut Ozil is trying to persuade Arsenal to secure the services of compatriot Julian Draxler during the upcoming January transfer window.
Arsenal have clearly been long time admirers of attacker Julian Draxler and the Gunners now finally stand a great chance of securing the services of the German international.
Draxler has made it clear in no uncertain terms that he wants to leave Wolfsburg as soon as possible and it seems certain that the former Schalke star will be departing the Bundesliga outfit during the upcoming January transfer window, with chief Klaus Allofs already confirming that the attacker will not play for the club again.
The problem for Arsenal in their pursuit of Draxler is that they are not the only ones interested and recent reports have gone on to claim that the likes of Juventus and Paris-Saint Germain are both in hot pursuit of the 23-year-old.
Arsenal are expected to launch their bid to sign Draxler in the coming weeks and according to reports from French radio station RMC, it has been claimed that Gunners’ superstar Mesut Ozil is pushing his club to go all out to secure the services of his compatriot.
Ozil is well aware of Draxler’s abilities after having consistently played alongside him for the German national team and considering their strong friendship off the pitch, the Arsenal star’s desire to see his international teammate link up with him at the Emirates Stadium comes as no surprise.
PSG have allegedly already make contacts with Wolfsburg with a £25 million bid for Draxler but the same report adds that Arsenal are ready to trump the French giants by placing an improved offer of around £29.3 million.
