Speaking to Sky Sports News, Bournemouth defender Steve Cook has admitted that he would be happy to see Jack Wilshere join the Cherries on a permanent basis.
Jack Wilshere made a move to Bournemouth on a season long loan deal this summer in his search for regular first team football and as surprising as the transfer may have been, it has to be said that the midfielder’s decision has been justified.
Wilshere has managed to establish himself as a key figure in the Bournemouth side which has performed extremely well so far this season and it is certainly great to see the 24-year-old returning his best following two horrid years ravaged by injury problems.
Arsenal fans would most certainly have been left extremely pleased with the progress Wilshere has managed to make at the Vitality Stadium so far but as a concern, the England international has dropped hints that he could well leave the Gunners permanently next summer.
Italian giants AC Milan have been widely touted to make a move for Wilshere while a permanent stay at Bournemouth has also been seen as well within the realms of possibility.
Now Bournemouth defender Steve Cook has gone on to praise the impact Wilshere has had at South Coast so far and has expressed his desire to see the ex-Bolton Wanderers man stay put at the Vitality Stadium beyond the end of the current campaign.
Cook wants Wilshere stay
Cook told Sky Sports News HQ, "Obviously he wanted to challenge himself and play regular football, and he saw that [opportunity] here. He's a great lad and a great player to have in our team and around in training.
"I think it's been a great decision for him and the team, obviously he's playing great football and he's really fitted in well. He's really flourishing and showing the world how good he is.
"He can help take Bournemouth to the next level, and hopefully if we can keep him fit and keep him enjoying his football, it would be nice to have him here for longer than this year."
Bournemouth fans would surely love to see Wilshere stay put but Arsenal would probably not want to part with the midfield star given that he has finally managed to get his fitness back and if indeed the Gunners were prepared to sell, the Cherries most certainly will have to break the bank to get the deal done.
