Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, Alexis Sanchez has gone on to state his belief that he would have enjoyed playing alongside club legend Thierry Henry.
Alan Smith, Ian Wright, Dennis Bergkamp, Ted Drake and John Radford are just some of the legendary strikers to have donned the famous Arsenal jersey over the years but there is no arguing with the fact that the Gunners’ greatest ever frontman was Thierry Henry.
Henry scored a sensational 226 goals in 369 appearances for the North London outfit and he remains the club’s all-time record goalscorer – a feat which looks very unlikely to be surpassed any time soon.
While it is next to impossible for anyone to match Henry’s iconic status at Arsenal, attacker Alexis Sanchez is probably the closest thing to the French legend that the Gunners possess in their squad at the moment.
Sanchez has recently been speaking about his admiration for Henry as well and has stated his belief that he would have formed a very good partnership with the Gunners’ hero if they had played alongside each other for Arsenal in the same lineup.
Sanchez a keen admirer of Henry
“I would like to have played with Henry,” Alexis told the Arsenal Magazine. “He could score, play one-twos with you, pass the ball and hold it up well too. He had a huge repertoire and great vision. I like playing with players with such a panoramic vision.
“I think we would do great together. We would be constantly moving, going up and down, coming and going. I would have loved playing with Henry. He was more of a scorer than I am. I think I would assist him for every goal he would score! I’m more into passing and he is a great goalscorer.”
