Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that fit again Danny Welbeck has impressed during training upon his return.
Danny Welbeck has proven to be a very good signing for Arsenal since he joined the Gunners from Manchester United during the summer of 2014 but his playing time on the pitch was limited last season due to a plethora of long term injury problems.
Welbeck only made his first appearance for Arsenal last term in February before once again being ruled out for the rest of the campaign with a serious knee problem in May.
Following months of painful rehabilitation, Welbeck has finally made a return to training recently for Arsenal but manager Arsene Wenger is understandably handling the England international very cautiously at the moment in order to avoid any further complications.
Ahead of Arsenal’s clash against Crystal Palace this weekend, Wenger spoke regarding the fitness of Welbeck and in encouraging news to the Gunners’ faithful, the French manager stated that the 26-year-old striker has looked very good in training so far.
Wenger was quoted saying by Arsenal’s official website, "He's fit, he's sharp. Will I involve him in the short-term or not, or will I play him first in a game with the under-23s? I have not decided yet, but in training he looks quite good."
When fit, Welbeck is certainly a very good player and considering Arsenal’s current lack of numbers in the attacking positions, the ex-Sunderland man’s return will surely prove to be a huge boost to the North London giants’ hopes of closing the gap on leaders Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.
