According to reports from the Daily Mirror, Borussia Dortmund are planning to snap up talented Arsenal midfielder Gedion Zelalem during the upcoming January transfer window.
Arsenal snapped up Gedion Zelalem as an extremely promising young player from Olney Rangers back in 2013 and despite being only 16, the midfielder managed to earn a debut for the Gunners after featuring in the 4-0 FA Cup victory over Coventry City in January 2014.
Having broken into the first team at such a tender age, many expected Zelalem to become a regular for the Gunners side and the Germany born midfielder was even touted to have a similar career trajectory to that of Cesc Fabregas at the Emirates Stadium.
Unfortunately though, Zelalem has been unable to come good on his initial promise and has only managed a meagre four appearances so far since making his debut a couple of years ago.
Due to the lack of minutes coming his way, Zelalem is said to have been left extremely frustrated waiting for his opportunity and with his contract at Arsenal set to expire at the end of the current campaign, there has been a lot of speculation that the 19-year-old will be leaving the Emirates Stadium this January.
Arsenal to lose another talented youngster?
Now according to reports from the Daily Mirror, claims have been made that Zelalem is currently being courted by German giants Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund are well known to snap up talented young players while they are raw and Zelalem would surely be open to reviving his career at a team which provides such a great platform for youngsters.
In addition, Zelalem would be making a move back to his birth nation and will be hopeful that he can turn his career around in the same fashion as former teammate Serge Gnabry is doing at Werder Bremen at the moment.
