Arsenal to make £8.7 million offer for La Liga defender

The central defensive position has been one of the problem areas for Arsenal during the current campaign and it does look very likely that the Gunners will be recruiting the services of a new centre-back next summer.

A host of names have been linked with a transfer to Arsenal over the past few weeks and now according to reports from Spanish publication Marca (via the Daily Mirror), the North London side are eyeing up a swoop for Eibar defender Florian Lejeune to strengthen their backline.

Lejeune has impressed for the Spanish minnows this season since joining from Manchester City over the summer and it has been reported that Arsenal are set to place a bid of around £8.7 million in an attempt to sign the 25-year-old next season.

Arsenal fans raise money to fly banner over the Emirates Stadium

It is no secret that Arsene Wenger has lost the support of a section of the Arsenal faithful following another poor campaign and this can be evident by the protest march conducted by disgruntled fans outside the Emirates Stadium ahead of recent matches.

Now it has been revealed that Arsenal fans are going a step further by raising money to fly a plane over the Emirates to urge Wenger to leave at the end of the season and have already managed over £2,000.

The campaign has been set up on the JustGiving website and a statement on the page reads, "We are raising funds to help with demonstrations, advertisements and banners to encourage the owners of Arsenal, to remove Arsene Wenger from the position of manager. He has constantly delivered unsatisfactory results, and lifelong Gooners are fed up."

Celtic planning a swoop for Arsenal youngster

Celtic are preparing for life after star winger Patrick Roberts as he heads back to Manchester City following the expiration of his loan deal at Parkhead at the end of the season and according to reports from the Daily Record, claims have been made that the Hoops have eyed up Arsenal youngster Chris Willock as a potential replacement.

Willock is a talented winger who has managed to impress for the Arsenal youth teams over the years but the 19-year-old’s long term future at North London is in doubt as his contract expires at the end of the season and Celtic are said to have identified the teenage sensation as the ideal candidate to fill the void set to be left by Roberts.

A defender city didn't want and now playing for Spanish minnows is just what we need,eh? A real Wenger signing, cheap, this French fraud is just carrying on with his habit of taking the p#ss out out of us, how many keepers has he gone through, how many defenders has he gone through, and still it's not right, get this deluded fool out of of our club, and don't let him waste one more penny of club transfer funds,

I think the idea, although ingenious, is not the way to protest. All that happens doing it this way is that we're going to give money to implement the plan then pay money for tickets and shirts (and some of it going to Wenger's wages) . The best way is working with the principle that if something is not to anybody's liking then they should boycott it. Have a Saturday and Sunday off.
