Iwobi wants Wenger stay
Arsene Wenger may not be a popular figure among the club faithful at the moment but many of his players have shown him unconditional support over the past few weeks and attacker Alex Iwobi is one of them.
Iwobi recently urged Arsenal fans to show more respect to Wenger and now the 20-year-old has gone on to express his desire to see his manager remain at the Emirates Stadium beyond the end of the current campaign.
"He's a great man in my opinion. I'd like him to stay. He's always helped me and developed me as player," Iwobi told the BBC's World Football programme.
"I don't think it's fair the way everybody criticises him. It's very unfair considering what he's done. He's always achieved fourth place, been in the Champions League and been up there with the title contenders."
Alexis Sanchez fuels Chelsea transfer talk
It is clear to see that Alexis Sanchez is not entirely happy at Arsenal at the moment and with his contract with the Gunners set to expire in 2018, there has been widespread speculation that the 28-year-old could end up leaving the Emirates Stadium next summer.
The likes of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have been mentioned as potential destinations for Sanchez and the London Evening Standard have recently claimed that rivals Chelsea are also considering a shock £50 million move for the Chilean superstar.
In an update, Sky Sports have insinuated that Sanchez has hinted at an interest in making a move to Chelsea after the attacker stated he would like to remain in London for the foreseeable future but play for a team with a ‘winning mentality’.
Quoted in Publimetro, Sanchez said (via Sky Sports), "I am happy in London and hope to finish my contract there. I'd like to stay in the city but with a team that is winning things, that has a winning mentality. I'm 28 years old; I still have a lot of years ahead of me. I am a player who looks after himself."
Manchester United planning a double raid of Arsenal
Along with Arsene Wenger, the futures of a host of first team stars at Arsenal remain in doubt and two players who will enter the final year of their respective contracts this summer are Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
As a result, Ozil and Oxlade-Chamberlain have widely been tipped to leave Arsenal at the end of the season and the Manchester Evening News have reported that rivals Manchester United are keen on making a double swoop for the attacking duo from North London.
