Arsenal the only London team Sanchez will play for
Alexis Sanchez’s future at Arsenal remains in doubt at the moment due to his contractual situation and in recent reports to worry the Gunners’ faithful, claims had been made that the Chilean international would consider a move to rival club Chelsea if the Blues make an offer next summer.
However, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has dismissed such speculation by stating that Sanchez is perfectly happy at the Emirates Stadium at the moment and that the Gunners are the only London team he will play for.
Wenger addressed Sanchez’s future saying, "I think he's happy here. It's true we have not extended his contract yet but I hope he will stay at the club.
“I think you have to be cautious when people give interviews in their home countries because the interpretation is not always exactly what they wanted to say.
"But I don't see anything negative (in Sanchez's comments). He said he wants to win the championship, that's what everybody wants and I can understand that completely."
Gilberto Silva sad to see Wenger treatment
The pressure on Arsene Wenger to leave his post as manager of Arsenal is being ramped up by the fans at the moment and the club faithful have not shied away from unfurling banners, organizing protest marches as well as flying planes over stadiums to get their message across.
Ex-Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva has not been left impressed by the Arsenal fans’ efforts to get rid of Wenger though and has explained the treatment handed to the club’s legendary manager as ‘sad’.
Gilberto told Sky Sports, "The pressure he has faced in these last few months has been huge. I've never seen anything like it in my life. It's sad for me to see how many people are treating him the way they are.
“Of course there is frustration, but the situation is not only his fault. I think everyone has to take responsibility. The players themselves have to stand up for the club and for the manager.
"Honestly, if you ask me whether he is staying or going, I have no clue, because Arsene doesn't take his decision based on emotion. He will think a lot about it. He will talk with the board and they will make the decision together."
Wright blasts Wenger’s position at Arsenal
While many Arsenal legend have spoken against the fans’ protest to get Arsene Wenger to leave at the end of the season, Ian Wright has not been too sympathetic towards the Frenchman.
Wright recently spoke about the situation surrounding Wenger at the moment and slammed his former boss as well as the club hierarchy for creating a situation where the manager is allowed to do whatever he wants despite the poor results on the pitch.
The Arsenal legend told the Sun, "This is typical of the lack of leadership and direction at Arsenal. He's in position where he can just do what he wants. Somebody upstairs should be telling him, ‘either you're staying or you're going. You must make an announcement.'
"Arsenal and the fans need stability over what is going to happen with the club's future. This wouldn't happen at any other club."
