And yet again, it seems as though the Nuri Sahin loan saga has come to an end. I say again, because it’s been on and off and nearing completion more times than Theo Walcott’s dribbled over the byline. However, taking in mind the lateness of the transfer window, and reports from various sources, it does seem like Sahin will be at Arsenal in the next few days. Possibly. If he doesn’t fall over on his way to the training ground.

The hitch over his buy clause (That I mentioned yesterday has been dealt with, though how we don’t know. Both Arsenal and Madrid are tough negotiators, so there’s probably something to suit either party. It’s probably now not the 14m that Madrid originally wanted, though if Arsenal chose to purchase him it would likely be less than straightforward.

Andre Santos fought the law

And the law won, sadly.

Now I’m refusing to believe this. Andre Santos is incapable of anything remotely nasty. His sole existence is to bring happiness to Arsenal fans with his blithely cheerful tweets, regardless of circumstances. At one time he forgot Yossi Benayoun was no longer on loan at Arsenal, and tweeted him “See you at the training ground tomorrow”. Poor mite must have been heartbroken.

But I digress. Andre Santos was picked up by police after being caught driving dangerously last night. He’s been bailed until late September, where he will face a court.

The Sun did their usual overblown SCOOP and claimed he could face two years in prison, but then again they also said he led the police in a Fast and Furious-esque chase at 130mph in his Maserati. He drives a smart car most days.

They also called him an “Arsenal star”, which isn’t quite accurate. We all love a bit of Andre, but he’s what Football Manager would call a “rotation option” rather than a “key player”.

Gary Neville talking sense

Continuing on his mission to atone for his sins as a nasty Man United player, Gary Neville supplied some wonderful punditry on Arsenal’s first game of the season, and Santi Cazorla in particular. Using those forbidden punditry techniques of “reason” and “knowledge”, he explained that there is no crisis at Arsenal, and the Sunderland game contained a lot of positives. It would have been seen as a great performance had Olivier Giroud not scored.

He was particularly complimentary about Santi Cazorla, which is nice to see, and certainly made a better comment than the Sunday Supplement crew, who called him a “poor man’s Fabregas” and “the Spanish Arshavin.”

Bye Bye Bendy

Godspeed you on your waaaaaaaayy...

Nicklas Bedntner is shuffling closer and closer to the exit door at Arsenal, with AC Milan a possible location at the moment. He’s turned other clubs down though. The talks he’s in are rather more advanced than others this time, and as long as Arsenal’s price of €8m is met he’ll go. That’s quite cheap really, so he’s almost certain to go. If not he’ll be farmed out on loan again.

Anyway, it’s the end of the transfer window soon so I imagine there’ll be more rumours across the day. So, see you later. Or tomorrow.
