Though it's only October, the rumour mill is in full swing, with the latest topic of interest being Arsenal's alleged 35m January transfer war chest, which Arsene Wenger is either keen or reluctant to spend, based on what paper you read.

Whatever you read, what seems correct is that Arsenal are keen to bring in another striker in January, with Marouane Chamakh expected to return to Bordeaux in the winter window.

While names like Robert Lewandowski and Stevan Jovetic have been linked, as well as reports claiming Arsenal nearly signed Edin Dzeko on deadline day (proved true), it seems that Wenger is looking towards La Liga for his new striker.

Fernando Llorente

Linked in the summer, linked now, it does seem that Arsenal have some concrete interest in the forward who hit over 25 goals for Athletic Bilbao last season.

With his contract up in the summer Arsenal could sign him for a reduced fee in January, which would enable them to offer a higher wage packet.

It won't be that simple however, as Barcelona and Manchester City to name a few are interested. They would be able to blow any offer Arsenal can make out of the water, though their need for a striker remains to be seen.

Adrian Lopez

The 'who?' option, and so naturally the more likely one, signing Atletico Madrid striker Adrian would likely raise some moans from the Gooner faithful, most of which 'why didn't we sign Falcao?'. Obviously the Colombian is out of reach but his teammate shouldn't be overlooked.

Capable of playing as a right winger and a centre forward, and generally playing the role Theo Walcott could play if he stopped complaining and signed his new contract, Adrian scored 18 goals last season. An excellent return for a side largely reliant on their prolific Colombian. In case you still weren't convinced, Arsene Wenger nearly abandoned the Giroud deal in the summer to sign Adrian.

It's not clear if Arsenal will buy in the winter, but the general mood around the club seems to be that it's better to spend than leave the money, and Arsenal have some high-profile targets. Expect Adrian, but who knows?

Wenger MUST invest in the strike force and midfield. As fns, we are increasing getting frustrated because at tis rate our team will be eclipsed by the fast improving Newcastle and perhaps, Liverpool out of the champions league slot. This is how we will be ranked– Man U, Chelsea, Man city, spurs, newcastle, liverpool...and Arsenal will fighting to clinch position 7/8/9 and who knows relehgation zone!! what a tragedy. Wenger has run out of ideas...

WEnger will not spend money on a striker, I doubt if he will spend any money at all, we could do with an out and out striker but Wenger will do nothing about it, just wait and see.

I'll prefer Arsenal to buy Isco leaving the option for goals to come from any player and it will give chance for Giroud to showcase himself. Beinf in control of every mach gives opportunity for goals. Isco will make a good partner with Carzola and others which will make our midfield and attack more effective. Yes we have plenty midfielders but remember we have plenty competions and injuries will surely come into play. Get Isco from Malaga now and forget about a striker. A good midfield control can turn any one to striker. If the midfield does not control the game and supply the point man will not perform or get the goals. With such kind of play will make the point man to work harder and assist more in the pitch rather than standing upfront waiting for the ball. Look at barca, who's is their main striker? none.A flowing midfield helps the defence and makes the defence stronger. Look for Isco now and get him, he's very very good and young.
