Arsenal have called a special press conference scheduled for 12 noon tomorrow. It's been described by the club as a 'major commercial announcement' and is one of the key deals the club need for their Financial Fair Play scheme to work.

Back to the future?

While the news was originally described as 'exclusive', it seems everybody and his dog (with an Arsenal contact at least) is aware that Arsenal are set to switch kit suppliers from Nike to Adidas as of 2014. Adidas made Arsenal's kit during the 80s and 90s, before Arsenal's pre-stadium move deal with Nike changed that.

The Adidas kits are fondly remembered by many Gooners and it's believed that the German company will return to a more 'traditional' Arsenal kit, as opposed to the more experimental ones Nike have offered in recent years.

However, the most important thing about this deal is the money. Arsenal will massively increase their revenues with this deal, as they will when their new shirt sponsor is announced. While Manchester United are streets ahead of everyone else in terms of commercials, Arsenal will find themselves not too far behind, certainly not far enough to lose sight.

Money for what you say? Stan Kroenke's pocket? Hopefully not. Even if the American took the unpopular decision of taking share dividends (money out of the club), there would be enough money for increased transfer fees, player wages and all the other things we complain about Arsenal not doing.

Will it be utilised? Ivan Gazidis has staked his career on telling us it will, so you'd hope there would be an increase in spending, especially with the alleged more level playing field come 2014.

All will be revealed tomorrow. This should be the first step in Arsenal becoming a major force again. Nothing is guaranteed, but things are looking up.
