Midfielder Emmanuel 'Dench' Frimpong has today switched his international allegiance.
The tough-tackling English/Ghanaian, having played for England U-21s, has decided to play for Ghana, the country of his birth.
Early promise
Frimpong was one of a bright new generation of Arsenal youth along with Francis Coquelin, Kyle Bartley and of course Jack Wilshere.
His career hasn't had quite the same trajectory as his comrades, and currently finds himself playing for Charlton Athletic in something of a last-chance saloon, his previous move to Wolves not quite working as planned due to a cruciate ligament injury.
But before all this transpired he worked his way through the England youth ranks, though he has always said he would play for Ghana.
He played six matches for England U-16s, and received call-ups for the U-19 and U-21 sides.
In late December last year the Ghanaian FA announced he had pledged his international future to Ghana, and today the official documentation has been confirmed.
Frimpong is now eligible to be called up to the Ghanaian national team, where he will join fellow Premier League player Michael Essien as well as former Premier League stars Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan.
We wish Frimpong all the best in his international career.
