Its safe to say that this season has been tough on the Gunners so far and tomorrow’s game against Swansea will be no exception.

Spurs’ win against Liverpool in the week coupled with our draw against Everton has left us in seventh place, five points adrift of the Champions League positions.

Bad timing

After Swansea’s performance against an in form West Brom team on Wednesday, it’s safe to say they’ll be high on confidence.  The game was a feast for the eyes and Swansea were impeccable.

Arsenal's midweek performance was by no means a poor result but the nature of the game means we wont be feeling quite as sharp as the Swans are.

Swansea are on a run of six games unbeaten in all competitions including Chelsea, Newcastle and two against Liverpool.  Arsenal are also on a six game unbeaten run, but four draws suggests that we haven’t been as clinical as perhaps we should have been.

Not much to go on

Last season was Swansea’s first season in the top flight for years and before then Arsenal hadn’t played them since the 80’s.  The two games we played against them last season hardly give us much hope.

A rather unimpressive 1-0 victory in the home leg coupled with a disastrous 3-2 loss away suggest that the Swans will no doubt fancy their chances of getting something this weekend.

Key men

For Swansea there is one man who has been grabbing all the headlines since his move to Wales in the summer.  The Spaniard Miguel Michu has had a colossal impact so far this season scoring an impressive nine goals in 16 appearances.  He bagged the first for his team on Wednesday and will be hungry for more tomorrow.

For the Gunners it seems to be becoming almost trivial picking a key player when it seems so obvious that the whole team needs to step it up a gear.  Although we haven’t been losing games we’ve seemed rather unmotivated and have failed to use the brilliant Spurs result as the springboard many had hoped for.

Off the pitch

Before the game on Saturday the Black Scarf Movement will be holding a march to raise awareness for issues they feel to be vital to the well being of our football club.

They make it very clear that their problems are with the board and not the clubs form or indeed the manager.

What can be said for sure is that our club has certainly been in better shape over the years and a win on Saturday is a really important step towards getting back on track.
