Arsenal playmaker Tomas Rosicky has called for fans to get behind the team, especially at home games, as he feels the volatile atmosphere at the Emirates is hurting the team's performances.

Arsenal were booed off the pitch at half and full time during Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Swansea, and the Czech says he understands frustrations, but this is not the way to go.

The Gunners host West Brom on Saturday and Rosicky who scored last night, said: “I can understand the frustrations, I am an Arsenal fan as well when I am not playing.

“It is understandable but we have some young guys and this is not helping. We have to all stick together, which is what we did last season when everyone was writing us off. The performances we produced against Tottenham and AC Milan [in last season’s Champions League], you could feel the great atmosphere at the Emirates. Without doubt that was the best atmosphere I have ever played in.

“We have to win the people again, that is the challenge. It will be difficult but we are capable of doing it again. If we are all on board, Arsenal is a great place to play football.”

It's worth using the Milan game as an example. After a 4-0 defeat during Arsenal's most recent 'crisis', the Gunners produced an incredible display that lit up the crowd and embarrassed the Italian champions. It wasn't enough, but the effect the unity had was clear.

Obviously Arsenal need to produce better performances, but Rosicky has a point.
