As the January window approaches, transfer speculation hots up, and Arsenal are no exception.

Arsene Wenger is rumoured to be planning a major overhaul in the winter, and the latest targets are a pair of Senegalese internationals who could go on the cheap.

Steel

Arsenal, along with Newcastle and Everton, have been alerted to the £3.5m buyout clause of West Ham's Mohamed Diame.

He was linked with Arsenal before his move to Wigan and it looks like the Gunners could swoop to add to their defensive midfield options.

At 6"2 he'd add power and presence, and has a monster of a shot on him, as we saw when he scored against Arsenal earlier in the season. With Abou Diaby permanently crocked he could be just what Arsenal need.

Luis Gustavo of Bayern Munich has also been linked, though he'd be tough to dislodge from the German high-fliers.

Feed the sheep

Most people are familiar with Demba Ba, his ten goals for Newcastle placing him second in the top-scorer charts this season. He's long been known to have a £7.5m buyout clause that hasn't been activated yet, due to concerns over his knee problems.

However, Arsenal might take the punt in a bid to add to their striking options, which is more of a striking option these days. As a proven PL goalscorer he should be worth the money, though you wonder if Arsenal might not be better off with a more creative option like Atletico's Adrian Lopez.

No doubt more targets will be linked as the month wears on, so we'll see who comes in the end.
