The Theo Walcott contract saga looks to take another twist as Jamie Sanderson, sports reporter for the Metro claimed that Walcott is all set to sign, with wages and contract length agreed, and just bonuses and image rights left to deal with.

'Not best week for Arsenal, but told club hope to meet Theo Walcott in next few days to trash out final details of his new deal.'

'There's a provisional agreement with Walcott over £90k-a-week 5-year deal, but bonuses and image rights to sort. Looks good.'

This is a more positive update than David Ornstein’s statement the other week, stating although Walcott wanted to sign, talks have not been held since August last year.

On Wednesday rumours surfaced that Arsenal had offered Walcott a new bumper 5-year deal worth £25 million, but either party confirmed nothing. David Ornstein denied talks between Walcott and Arsenal, but Sanderson has hinted that informal talks could be taking place.

However, there is one thing that most journalists tend to agree on and that is Walcott’s desire to stay at the club. He could’ve already signed for another foreign club under the Bosman ruling but he is still here and still in talks.

Unless he is holding out for another English club when his contract officially expires, it looks good for Arsenal. He has remained quite patient as he is still in peaceful negotiations with the club after 6 months, most players would lose patience after that long.

Whatever we do we need to do quickly as this saga is hindering the club’s progress in the transfer market. Wenger admitted he was more than reluctant to sign anyone until the Walcott situation was sorted; so all that remains to be said is ‘WALCOTT SIGN DA TING!’
