The moment Walcott put pen to paper with Arsenal F.C. and extended his stint with the club was supposed to be a joyous moment. However, it was met with a lot of mixed reactions from the fans…

The Good

Arsene Wenger: ‘We are all delighted that Theo has signed a new contract. He joined us as a 16-year-old and since then has developed very well to become an extremely important player for both Arsenal F.C. and England.’

Piers Morgan: ‘BOOM! Thank you for your loyalty Theo’

Ryan (comment under Sky Sports’ article on Walcott’s signing): ‘How many 23 year olds are on 14 goals this season????? Not many if any, get real you Arsenal haters; he’s a great striker!! Well worth 100 grand a week!’

The Bad

James Dodd (Producer on talkSPORT Radio Station): ‘£100k a week on a three and a half-year deal is probably not what Arsenal wanted to give Walcott but it’s signed. Saga over. #AFC’

John Cross (Sports writer for the mirror): ‘Walcott has signed a three and a half-year deal, but rejected the offer of a five-year contract’

Groovygazza (comment under Sky Sports’ article): ‘Yes it will now set a precedent for the rest of our players and they will now see how they can hold the club to ransom if they so choose. We all agree that £100k is too much for Theo but if we did lose him we would be blaming the accountants again.’

The Ugly

Jh (comment under Sky Sports’ article): ‘the most overrated player in the Premiership, stealing a wage’

Dave (comment under Sky Sports’ article): ‘Mug… he has stayed for the money, no ambition as he could have gone to a real top 4 club with ambition but he has no ambition as with the club itself.’

Charlie-gooner- (comment under Sky Sports’ article): ‘Worst player we could have kept!! What about Cazorla, Arteta, Gibbs, Podolski and Chamberlain? Sure;y they will all want pay rises because they have more quality than Walcott!’

So, Walcott becomes Arsenal highest paid player, is he worth £100k?
