England fans and the media alike were full of praise for young Jack Wilshere following his performance for the national team during the 2-1 win over Brazil on Wednesday night.

The young Arsenal midfielder has long been touted as the next jewel in the England crown and after his display at Wembley, it's no surprise.

Wilshere was in superb form during the victory, although it wouldn't have appeased Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger that the 21-year-old played the full 90 minutes of the friendly.

There have been talk of the youngster being to the Gunners what Xavi is to Barcelona and his 90 minute cameo surely reinforced his credentials.

His performance in the middle of park earned rave reviews within the morning papers, Paul Hayward of the Daily Telegraph penning:

“There is even less room for doubt now about Jack Wilshere’s ability to bring the vital qualities of vision, movement and incisive passing to a team who have traditionally been too mechanical and wasteful in possession to get anywhere near Spain.”

It wasn't just journalists who were salivating over Wilshere on Thursday morning, with former Arsenal defender Martin Keown claiming:

“Jack Wilshere was the best player on the pitch. He looked so full of confidence and carried the game at times.”

Echoing his sentiments was Sky Sports pundits Jamie Redknapp, who said:

“He is the one-two wizard and he took his Arsenal form on to the international stage

Either way, if Wilshere can continue his prominent rise through the ranks for both club and country, there is no reason why the midfielder can't become a pivotal member of the England national team, especially if he continuously churns out similar performances to that of his during the 2-1 win over Brazil.
