Bayern Munich are one of the powerhouse’s of World football, having won the European cup four times, and the German Bundesliga a record 22 times, and are currently running away with the league, 15 points clear of second place Borussia Dortmund. They will be more determined than ever to win the Champions League after losing the final last year in their own back yard to Chelsea on penalties after controlling most of the match.

Bayern Munich has a defensive record which bears similarities to George Graham’s Arsenal side, having not conceded a goal in over 10 hours of football, and only conceded 7 goals in 22 league matches this season.

With Pep Guardiola preparing to come in as the new manager of Bayern Munich in the summer, the players will be eager to impress the new manager, and winning the Champions League would be one way to do that.

Where we can win the game

If Wilshere and Cazorla play well, then Arsenal play well, is the general consensus. Therefore these two need to play as well as they can, as everything the team does well comes through these two. Considering they had a breather on Saturday and only played 20 minutes, they should be refreshed and raring to go.

Bayern Munich has a very good defence and have not conceded a goal in over 10 hours of football. This means that when they get a chance Giroud and Walcott must capitalise, especially as these two have been known to waste many chances.

Arsenal’s defence must also be watertight for the tie, because with an attacking force of Robben, Ribery, Gomez, Muller and Kroos, Bayern will create chances. As Chelsea showed in last year’s Champions League Final you can stifle this team and restrict them if your defence is solid.

Bayern or Bust

As all Gooners will know, this is the last available bit of silverware for Arsenal to win this season, and as such the fans will be expecting a big performance against Bayern Munich.

Whilst many fans have been growing weary of manager Wenger for a while now, Saturday’s defeat at the hands of Blackburn was the last straw for many fans. His refusal to strengthen the squad and the fact that we haven’t won a trophy since the 2005 FA Cup Final mean that unless the team puts in a very good performance against Bayern then he will finally have lost fan support.

We must mount a serious challenge in this tie, because fourth place is not a trophy!
