Andrei Arshavin has been somewhat in the news recently, with talk of him retiring prematurely. What is definitely known is that his Arsenal contract expires in the summer, and there is almost no chance of a renewal, especially considering he’s started two games this season, both in the League Cup.

Arsene Wenger said of the Russian:

“He will decide what to do. I don't think he will stay here because he doesn't play enough. He is an example to everybody.I must say that publicly I would like to give him credit, because he is working absolutely every session at 100% commitment.”

"He has been questioned about his commitment many times. If you saw him every day you would respect him for what he is doing on a daily basis. It is absolutely fantastic."

That rather puts paid to the talk of retirement, and I expect Wenger is trying to butter up potential suitors, few as they may be, who may want to sign him on a free transfer. Of course, he may be forced into retirement against his will..

Aubameyang

In other news, Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has been courted by a number of sides, has had interest confirmed by his agent. His agent claims that Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle are all interested in him, with Manchester City also linked elsewhere.

He’s highly rated and has scored 17 Ligue 1 goals so far, but Arsenal’s interest has never seemed serious and you wonder if they might be better off looking elsewhere, especially considering his lack of experience at the top level.

Norwich-predicted teams

Arsenal have a few selection quandaries ahead of their game tomorrow. With Tomas Rosicky out, Santi Cazorla’s position is in question, with him either staying on the left wing or being moved back centrally. Jack Wilshere could come straight in for Rosicky, or be rested/have to earn his place back.

I don’t expect Theo Walcott to start, but Lukas Podolski could definitely be in contention. He may start on the left if Cazorla ends up back in the middle. Gervinho is in excellent form (by his standards) and should continue on the right hand side, though Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been knocking on the door of late.

Expected line-up

Fabianski; Monreal, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Sagna; Arteta, Wilshere; Podolski, Cazorla, Gervinho; Giroud
