It's been a while since Lukas Podolski's been linked away, but his inauspicious performance against Manchester United (perhaps) has led to new reports surfacing, suggesting that Turkish side Galatasaray are interested in luring him away after just one season.
They plan to offer Arsenal £12m and Podolski a 130,000K per week deal in order to recruit another big name forward after signing Didier Drogba in January.
According to Metro report Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen and Anzhi are all interested in the German as well, as has been speculated in the press.
The usual line about him being unsettled at Arsenal has been peddled, but as ever details are being ignored in favour of getting hits.
Podolski's been in poor form of late due to a lingering ankle injury. He's getting surgery on it in the summer, and will be a fitter and more mobile player next season. Why would Arsenal choose to offload him?
He's not fallen out with Arsene Wenger, and it's rare to see him without a smile on his face. Galatasaray may well be interested, but Arsenal likely won't be interested in doing business.
Aaron Ramsey-the great debate
I remember writing an article last year saying Arsenal should sell Aaron Ramsey, because he wasn't good enough and had no set position. I can safely say my opinion on him has been changed this season, and since the turn of the year he's been one of Arsenal's standout performers.
Playing a box-to-box role after a spell out wide has served him well, and he's provided Mikel Arteta with a more defensively-minded midfield partner than Jack Wilshere.
But he still divides opinion.
Despite outshining Wilshere regularly, there are still calls for the 20-year old to replace him every game, and after the Manchester United game, there were some incredible statements made about him. Bear in mind that he received a standing ovation on leaving the pitch, and finished the game with 89% pass completion and a number of successful tackles (including an especially satisfying one on Nani):
'Ramsey is a good player, but nothing like what we need. Happy with him=happy with fourth'
'Ramsey is a useful squad player, but wouldn't start at any other top 4 side'
'Ramsey just runs around'
'The new David Hillier'
There were a few conflicting opinions:
'If Ramsey keeps up this form he'll be part of our midfield two for a decade'
'Ramsey-future captain'
But on the whole, people still don't seem keen on him. His misplaced passes are still met with groans, and when he improves one aspect of his game another is criticised. It seems until he transforms into a Vieira/Fabregas cross people will continue to dislike him.
Me? I'm somewhere in between. I think he's an excellent player and will only get better, and could certainly start in a title-winning side (hell, if Tom Cleverley can, anyone can).
On the other hand, if Arsenal went out and bought somebody to improve on him, I wouldn't complain. That's partly because he's happy to play any role for the team, to be fair.
What do you think of Ramsey? Is he a future legend or just a decent squad player?
