You'll recall both Tomas Rosicky and Bacary Sagna have been linked to varying degrees with exits from Arsenal this season. Rosicky has been linked with Dortmund, Schalke and Galatasaray, while Sagna is apparently keen to return to France.
It looks like at least one of these is false.
Rosicky
Rosicky's been linked away less heavily, but his agent still felt the need to confirm he will definitely be at Arsenal next season, saying:
"'Rosicky will remain at Arsenal, it is one hundred per cent".
Well, that's that then. Move along.
Bacary...
He's not exactly flavour of the month these days, and it seems Bacary Sagna is aware of this. He spoke in delightfully vague terms about his future:
“I’ve always worked hard for the club in which I have to play, Right now though, I do not know what will happen.
Personally, PSG has never contacted me, but I do not close any doors. I could very well continue at Arsenal or go elsewhere.
Nobody knows what will happen in the future. Monaco? I read about that too, but I have no news. I will finish the season and then we’ll see. I don’t close the door or PSG, or to Monaco or Arsenal.”
It's possible Bacary will stay until the end of his contract, but with his poor form and age, I wouldn't be surprised to see Arsenal cash in, gaining £8m and 60k off the wage bill. It would be a sad end to his Arsenal career, especially with his great service, but if that's what has to happen, it will.
Expirations
In case you've forgotten, Arshavin and Squillaci will both be released in July, with Lukasz Fabianski, Sagna and Djourou all having one more year to run on their contracts.
There'll be a lot of wage bill cleared this summer, with Nicklas Bendtner, Denilson and Emmanuel Frimpong all likely to exit.
What will it be used for?
I hope it rhymes with Revan Stovetic, but it could also rhyme with Cashley Silliams..
