Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain has admitted a move to the Emirates would suit him.
The Real Madrid forward confirmed after their last game of the La Liga season that the ‘decision was made’ for him to leave the Bernabeu, after 7 years with the club.
Encouraging
Arsenal face a struggle to lure Higuain, with Serie A titans Juventus very interested in his signature. It is believed Real would want around £20-22m for the Argentinian, a fee within the realms of reason for both sides, but Arsenal especially.
However, this is the first time Higuain has spoken as to a preferred destination, and he seems to favour Arsenal:
‘There have already been offers and I hope that Madrid do the best for me and themselves. Arsenal? They would suit me, I’m still young and I have goals. There are many possibilities. I want to go to a league where I’ll be put to the test.’
Not exactly a ‘come and get me’ plea, but not far off either. The ‘offers’ received are likely from Arsenal, Juventus, and possibly Liverpool and Tottenham, who have also registered an interest in signing him.
However, Champions League football and a new challenge is what Higuain wants, and there are two sides that can offer him that. No transfer will be finalised until Real Madrid find their new manager, but Higuain’s comments are promising indeed.
