It was reported a couple of days ago that Arsenals pursuit of strikers Gonzalo Higuain and Stevan Jovetic had taken a few twists and turns.
With Juventus looking in the front seat for both players, and every other striker who has ever scored a goal it would seem ( after missing out on last Summer’s transfer targets and ending up with Bendtner can you blame them), Arsenal are under pressure to make a move quickly to stop missing out on the players they desire and leaving it up to another season of deadline day madness.
Higuain needing a record fee
With Jovetic claiming his desire for a move to Juventus, Arsenal have been given the green light to make a serious bid for Higuain.
Real Madrid are demanding a fee of around £25.5 million for the 25-year-old striker. Juventus have apparently tabled a bid of under £20 million for Higuain but this was not accepted by the Spanish giants.
Arsenal have reportedly also made contact with Higuain, but would have to smash their record transfer fee to bring him to the Emirates in what would be a real sign of intent from Arsene Wenger.
Already Juve bound?
Metro reported yesterday that Juventus have made a breakthrough in the bid to sign Higuain. An Italian newspaper has claimed an instalment-based fee transfer has been agreed between the two clubs, with just the fee left to be finalised.
However this story seems unlikely as Juventus' president Giuseppe Marotta recently claimed Gonzalo Higuain would not be sold “until a new coach was in place” and talks between the two sides would only start then.
