Arsenal target Marouane Fellaini has made no secret of his desire to relocate from Goodison Park.
He’s recently teased Chelsea fans with a picture of him in a Chelsea shirt, asking ‘how do I look?’.
On FIFA, of course.
Friends
Fellaini has friends within the Chelsea camp thanks to the large Belgian contingent there. There are reports of a fond reunion between Fellaini and Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku, who returned from loan at the end of this season, and he also knows Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne from international duty. He was linked very heavily with a move to Chelsea in January, thanks to his £22m buyout clause.
Talk of a move to United (and one to Arsenal) has gone quiet, and Fellaini certainly seems to harbour a not-so-secret desire to move to Stamford Bridge. He’s probably waiting for Jose Mourinho to call as we speak...
Reality
However, that call will likely never come. Fellaini may find Arsenal to be his only top-level Premier League option, as Mourinho is fond of powerful, hard-working defensive midfielders, with great tactical discipline-something Fellaini often lacks.
He may receive a free-er role elsewhere, though it’s possible he’s so set on a Chelsea move he refuses anyone else. With talk of Arsenal activating his buyout clause earlier in the month, he could have already rebuffed the Gunners.
