Unsurprisingly, Arsenal Frenchman Laurent Koscielny has been linked with two of Europe's footballing superpowers in Barcelona and Real Madrid.

‘Hard man’

Koscielny has been a huge asset to the team this season, proving himself to be a no nonsense centre half who gets the job done when needed.

His aerial threat and on point positioning has been in a league of its own, making him fully deserve a place in the Barca or Bayern squad, however, he remains our most influential defender and is highly respected here in London. If he did end up leaving, trophies would be guaranteed, but not necessarily first team football.

We love Kos

Annoying as this speculation may be, Koscielny still remains our knight in shining armour, salvaging a Champions League spot two seasons on the trot. Not only that, a move abroad could make him become the new Nasri or Song, something no Arsenal fan wants to see.

Stephane Courbois, Koscielny agent said:

'There is interest. I know that Laurent is part of a shortlist of three or four players for both clubs'

Of course the best players attract the best clubs, but Koscielny is loved here in North London and looks to be enjoying his football, making a move doubtful.  The annual never-ending list of possible transfer targets has come to life at Arsenal and A-list names are likely to be purchased, making Arsenal look more and more ambitious.

The trophy drought is one of the reasons Koscielny doubts his future at the club, yet all could change with new players coming in and Arsenal looking like title contenders.

Earlier this month Koscielny said:

‘I want to lift trophies and to have a winning record. I hope the club will give me the means. If this weren’t the case, I’d look elsewhere. I want to win titles and I hope the club have the means.’

‘I feel good at Arsenal and if the club compete with the best, I have no reason to leave. But if it fights every year for Champions League qualification it’s hard psychologically to be under such constant pressure.’
