Arsenal’s goalkeeper search appears to have gone north, with Newcastle stopper Tim Krul being lined up for a move after QPR’s Julio Cesar’s reported transfer has stalled.
Cesar move stalling
It was believed that Cesar would be joining Arsenal. He wanted to stay in London and QPR were expecting his departure but the Brazil international has decided to take his time over any decision.
Cesar went on holiday recently and said he wouldn’t make a decision on his future until he returned.
Tim Krul the man
Reports in Holland suggest Arsenal are ready to offer £6 million to land the talented keeper. That would appear to be a snip, considering he signed a new five-year-deal in 2012.
Dutch website Ad.nl broke the news and they believe Wenger sees Krul as a goalkeeper who can be the Gunners No.1 for several years. This consistency can help them challenge the likes of the Manchester clubs and Chelsea over the coming seasons.
Krul played 31 times for Newcastle last year before injuring himself towards the end of the campaign. It appears he could be Arsenal’s No.1 target and it would be a great transfer for both club and player.
Reliability?
Whether there is any reliability in these reports, seems hard to tell. The website could just be putting 2 + 2 together and ending up with 5. Arsenal are on the look out for a keeper, Krul is a good Dutch keeper. Link the two together.
It is difficult, although Krul is an excellent up and coming keeper and would represent a good signing for Arsenal, as mentioned, he could become their consistent goalkeeper.
In addition to that, working with a defence for a prolonged period of time would only improve Arsenal defensively and with attacking talents like Cazorla, Walcott and maybe Suarez ahead it would make a very strong team.
