Arsenal to miss out on QPR shot stopper
Napoli are close to finalising a deal to bring Arsenal target Julio Cesar to the Azzuri according to Sky Sports News. Arsene Wenger was thought to have been lining up the QPR player to step in between the sticks whilst also aiding Szczesny’s development after a mixed season from the young Pole.
The players agent confirmed that there was interest from Arsenal as well as Napoli saying that “the only two concrete track are Arsenal and Napoli” as well as suggesting there was also interest from Spanish side Villarreal.
Arsene Wenger was also said to be interested in bringing in a goalkeeper following the departure of Italian Vito Mannone to Sunderland earlier in the window leaving Arsenal with just two goalkeepers.
Both keepers have sketchy injury records so suggestions that a goalkeeper was high on Wenger’s transfer list may have more truth to them than they first appeared.
Ryo Miyaichi set for Feyenoord Loan
Arsenal’s 20 year old Japanese prodigy looks set to be heading to the Netherlands after Feyenoord boss Ronald Koeman admitted his side were keen on the winger. Miyaichi has enjoyed a series of loan stints since joining Arsenal in 2011, with Bolton and Wigan taking him on board along with a previous spell at Feyenoord.
Despite successful loan periods Miyaichi is yet to establish himself within the Arsenal ranks having yet to make his first senior appearance.
Wenger believes Giroud can only get better
Arsene Wenger has publically backed French striker Olivier Giroud after scoring twice in Arsenals 7-0 romp over an Indonesian Dream Team on Sunday. Giroud converted twice within minutes of each other both from crosses from full back Bacary Sagna.
In his post-match press conference Wenger said:
“I like Olivier very much. He scored 17 goals in his first year in England when he needed to adapt and I'm sure he will respond.”
After a promising first season at Arsenal Giroud could face stiff competition for a starting place with Arsenal being linked with Gonzalo Higuain, Luis Suarez and Wayne Rooney.
