After Arsenal appear to have lost out to Napoli for top summer target, Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, they now seem to have turned their full attention to want-away Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
However, now that Real Madrid are on the verge of offloading Higuain, they are now trying to capture Suarez from under the nose of Arsenal.
Bid Rejected
Arsenal have had a club-record bid rejected by Liverpool, whose manager Brendon Rodgers seems unwilling to sell his star striker. However, if the price is right, Liverpool may cash in, seeing as they are now interested in Roberto Soldado.
With Liverpool holding out for a higher transfer fee, this would not be of any problem to Real Madrid, who look set to get a huge income from the sale of Higuain to Napoli.
Second Option
While Arsenal may have been reported to be chasing the Uruguayan for most of the summer, it is well documented that Higuain was the clubs first choice target.
In a similar vein to this, Real Madrid have only turned their attention to the Liverpool forward after their number one target, PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has stated that he is staying in the French capital.
Straight Battle
It now looks as though it will be a straight battle between Arsenal and the Spanish giants to the signature of Luis Suarez.
After losing out to Higuain, Arsenal will really need to step up their quest of the striker, and will know that if they miss out on the Uruguayan then this could end up being a very disappointing summer in the transfer market.
