On a day where there was plenty of optimism that we may get a result it was an afternoon which would drag and bee painful for all Arsenal fans and definitely one to forget.

Once again a 12:45 kick off proved to be Arsenals worst nightmare. This game ended 6-0 to Chelsea to go with the other mauling’s this season of 5-1 at Liverpool and 6-3 at Manchester City.

Last week showed a gritty determination to win the game at spurs but this had disappeared with 10 minutes gone. Arsenal looked like they didn’t have a clue, looked sloppy in midfield and Arsenal were duly punished.

The match had controversy when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain handled on the line. It seemed a straightforward decision but ref Marriner sent off Gibbs and replays have shown there was no penalty signalled which shows they had no clue. To add more fuel to the fire it should have been a yellow as it was going wide however, I don’t want to focus on the referee as Arsenal were awful.

Arsenal looked like they didn’t know how to organise themselves and this is why Flamini should have been playing as he would have got stuck in but instead Arsenal didn’t do any of the basics.  If you are to win a title then you need to get the fundamental skills correct.

My major concern is what this will do to the players now. I believe the title is gone and we must now focus on finishing in the top four and gain as many points possible as well as hopefully winning the FA cup. However, this will be no easy task especially if Arsenal are complacent. There is one thing for sure Arsenal will need to the basics correct against all of the teams in the cup.

Moreover, it was also clear to see how far we are behind Chelsea. We are lacking a quality CDM and a striker which will hopefully get put right in the summer. This game shouldn’t define Wenger’s reign one bit at all but it does add that little bit more pressure, for the players this is a reality check, taking selfies and celebrating like they’d won something last week was unacceptable and shows that you should only be cocky if you win a trophy because it can all come crashing down.

#1 I am a Arsenal fan and agree with statement 3. We had a great run till 2005 and AW did well to keep us in the Champions league when he had no funds with CH - MU -and MC able to spend without limit. But now we have the funds and you are right I believe AW refusal to adjust his game and bring us a Viera , Adams or Cambell who could lead this team with grit as well as skill. We have very players who are good on the ball but whilt under physical pressure. The real reality is AW will need to be replaced at some point soon so why not now when we are still a Top 4 team with money to spend for top players and AW has signed some good young talent. Uur situation should bring in interest from top coaches.
AS for your refereeing - the word intention was removed from the laws of the game over 10 years ago and what you are talking about is denying a goal scoring opportunity where the referee has to see if 4 things have been met. was the direction of ball toward goal, what is the distance to goal, number of defender and direction the player is to goal. The best we could have hoped for is a penalty with yellow since he could have said the direction of the ball was going outside the post. Also the referee crew should be questioned about the lack of communication and the pre-game meeting about responsibilities. There was no doubt that the player in question went to ground - how hard is it for the referee to continue his run to that player while pointing to the spot and correctly identifying the right player. That tells me he really did not see the contact cause had he noticed it but could not tell which player he would have run in to verify.

Arsenal is lack of fire power...all good player are injured...so time to spend money buy few players like city,M.U,Chelsea...i f Arsenal just hope the same player,it will not working because wenger should know every player will injured ...

The man arrived on u.k. Soil from japan. It seems that all those years spent in japan were wasteful as aw hasn't learned how to conduct himself in case of failure.by staying at arsenal rather than quit after admitting his last years at the club are no more than a big disapointment, he just put. Himself to shame like no japanese person will do under such circumstances.shame of you arsene!!

According to Winterburn, the fans shd blame the players and not Wenger. This is really absurd. The manager is responsible for everything in the club.Clichy said Wenger did not practise defence drills. So it's no surprise the gunners get beaten and humiliated time and again by the top teams.
I doubt he can ever win the epl unless he changes his approach.Don't be surprised the gunners lose to Swansea and even to Wigan.
He thinks he is god and knows everything. His ego is the size of an ostrich egg. When asked to appoint a defence coach,he dismissed it arrogantly and condescendingly.
Even if he were to buy ten wc players,Arsenal won't be able to win the epl unless he changes his approach.
He is living on borrowed time and I for one would be morethan happy if he were to quit on his own .

Wenger is the problem. Football has moved on but he hasn't . He is still stuck in his one dimensional of pass after pass ,goodness knows how many to unleash a shot. His style is predictable .
There are no high balls to the box so defenders have it easy.
I think many fans are sick of his tactics and management which shows no sign of change.
At any other club he would have been axed ages ago. Maybe the board are beholden and hence do not want to sack him.But all good things must come to an end.
I believe he can' t bring Arsenal to the next level and must go before he is fired.

Everything said here is correct apart from 3 things:
1. It was red card as the intention of plaeyr was to prevent goal scoring opportunity (other wise why he would jumps and hand the bool as a goal keeper). FA rules say so.
2. The referee main problem, howver, was that neither he nor his lines man saw the hand ball incident. He acted on the Chelsea players appeal that another refree might mave not bowed to players. He should continue the game and every body would be now saing it was a genuine mistake for not seeing it.
3. Though you seem to be Arsenal supporter and I am of Chelsea the fact is Arsenal supportes should stillbe proud of the team achievement so far this year. FA cup is around the corner after 9 years lack of silverware. Nobody was expecting that Arsenal would win EPL with current squad. There has been lack of depth in squad as a long term stuberns of AW for not going for purchasing players. The world of football is changing and unless AW changes his way of thinking or the club make some constructive decisions I personally find it hard to think Arsenal will win either EPL or ECL in the nera future. My honest thoughts whether readers like it or not.
